The group walked down the street, as usual, on their daily patrol. The job had become a bit rougher with the prison government, the citizens were resisting but some complied. The patrol rounded the corner with their quad-pulse rifles in hand, the standard military firearm in 2319.

In this age space travel was as fast as ever but certainly was still dangerous. Captains often got into fights in space. As for colonies they perfected the bio-dome and colonization but it still took significant effort from the captain to keep them alive. This mountainous colony has only getting slight morale loss from prison government and the population was not changing. The low 2% tax rate seemed not to bother them too much. Though violence was high that’s what the police were for.

As the group rounded the corner a motorcycle, something that two of the officers had only seen in museums and the third used to ride around in on his old rocky type colony, shot out through an open doorway in the building next to them, skidded sideways and thundered off. Surprised the police officers stood there for a second and then they were knocked out.

They awoke under a pile of rubble. Upon realizing their situation they scrambled to get out. The squad leader, Henry, called out and the other two responded. After a bit of digging Henry had found a hole. He got out and lit a flare and held it next to the hole to find that the other he and the other two were saved by an advertisement screen that had remained somewhat intact when it fell and had provided enough room for them not to be crushed. They also all were together.

They had arrived inside of the building. Digging through the rubble to get back out would be impossible and they were already exhausted. Henry brought the flare into the room and looked around. In the corner there were a few boxes, in the middle of the room there was a couch and a table, a counter in the corner with a door broken down by rubble on the other side, a boarded up stairway, and a busted old hologram projector television near the table. The building seemed to be an old abandoned office building had here was the waiting room with the receptionists counter. On the table there was a lamp, when Henry tried to flick it on it worked for a few seconds then died again. One of the other men, Greg, inspected the boxes, one was marked by a y the other had an n. He broke open the one marked n and just found fried wired and computer components, in the one marked y there were bundles of wire and circuitry all in fine condition. In the box with the blown wires he had found a small box like device with an antenna and a switch flicked to on.

Henry aimed his rifle at the wall and fired. The 4 pulse bullets hit the wall and disappeared. Just as the three feared, it was made from the revolutionary new material that absorbed pulse, fusion, and plasma shots and they caused no damage. It was meant to keep small arms fire from damaging the structure but it basically trapped the three in there. On a normal wall that shot would have cut a 5 inch deep hole in the wall with a diameter of about 6 inches. Henry sat down on the floor and leaned against the counter and the other two laid on the couch to rest up for tomorrow.

Henry woke up and looked around. It was pitch black because the flare went out. He lit another, placed it on the table, Greg and the other one, John, still asleep, and aimed his rifle at the boards on the stairway. And with that blast Greg and John shot awake. Henry told them to move it and he began up the stairs.

On the second floor straight across from the stairs there was another door almost completely covered by rubble. They climbed over a small bit on their way out of the stair case and looked around the room. On one side there was rubble piled in with two doorways on either side, one was the stairs they just took which were barely covered and the other door way mostly buried. On the other side of the room there was a busted table, a potted plant, some fern, and a door.

Henry opened up the door and the room was brightly lit. As he looked around he saw a wall with some damaged to it, a few inches of digging, a mini fridge left open and half filled with beer bottles. A table with a half full bottle, a hammer, a dual mini pulse pistol, there was a cot and a smaller table which had a lamp on it. On the cot were a man and 3 or 4 empty bottles on beer, the man obviously passed out from either drinking or working, using a hammer it would take a lot of work to wreck that wall.

As the group began looking around the room, the man snapped awake, grabbed the pistol and held it up at Greg. Henry approached the man and tried to reason with him, but as Henry stepped forward, the man grabbed Greg and swung him into a headlock and held the dual-pulse pistol to his head. The man then hollered at Henry to drop his rifle, at this point Greg’s rifle was at his feet. The man obviously didn’t notice John was there as John was behind him be he didn’t have his rifle, he had left it leaning against the wall while looking around, so he was about to disarm the man from behind.

Henry took a step forward, and the man tightened his grip on Greg, who was scared stiff. Henry took another step; John lunged at the gun just before the man was going to kill Greg. The yellow glow of two pulse shots zipped through the air then it went dark as the lamp went down. Three more sets of two yellow shots went off into the wall and ceiling and then a flare was lit. Greg had grabbed hold on the man now and held the gun to his head, kneeling on top of him in the ground, and Henry had the flare in one and and John in a headlock in the other. When Henry saw who he was holding he immediately let go and pointed his rifle at the man. John picked up his rifle, jabbed Henry in the side with the butt playfully, and aimed the gut at the man.

After asking the man to cooperate or he will be shot the man locked his leg around Greg’s , shoved his leg to the side making Greg tumble off and ram Henry to the side, putting out the flare by rubbing it out on the wall. Then one burst of four pulse shots zipped through the air and the struggling stopped. The flare was re-lit and Greg sat down on the bed and wiped his four head as John lowered his rifle and picked up the pistol off the ground. It was a civilian issue version dual-shot pistol, a rarity, since most pistols are single pulse and the dual pulse ones are usually service issue. Civilians usually never get anything with three shots unless they are ex-police and only Special Forces get quad pulse. The idea is that the more pulses the bigger hole it can burn so the more it can damage.

That gun plus the fact that he was in this building plus how well he had handled himself while fighting Greg while he was obviously intoxicated obviously meant something. Henry dug out the man’s wallet and flipped it open and read the I.D. in there. It read the name of one notorious gang leader, in this arm of the galaxy, the fact that he was so drunk was most likely the reason why they actually killed him. Well the three of them had 25 million headed their way plus the hatred of both the gang who blew the building and his gang. The ones who blew the building wanted him to slowly starve to death not to have the police take care of him. John checked the charged on his rifle then drew his combat knife and wiped it down.

The streets were in an absolute frenzy. The gang who had their leader trapped in there was attacking. The other gangs were taking advantage of the chaos and looting buildings. Then for a second it went calm as the gangs watched the police force approach. Canisters of tear gas went shooting into the streets, gas masked officers advanced in and barraged the gang member with pepper balls, and the armored vans blocked off streets and used advanced directed sound wave technology to get the rioters all into a circle so the police could contain them.

Then a car hovering over head stopped and out the rear two windows were tri fusion rifles, the passenger window had a charge launcher, and the driver had a single fusion machine gun. They leaned out and opened fire of the police vans, totaling 1 and badly damaging two others along with killing 5 policemen. The cops retaliated with live fire; one van raised the gravitation beam projector out from inside the van and took out the car in a few seconds. The others began opening fire with fusion machine guns, the officers switching from pepper pellets to tri-pulse and quad-pulse rifles, and more forces were coming in with rail guns as more gang cars came flying in. Gangs from all over the colony came flooding in to fight.

In the middle of the central dome stood a crumbled building, walls from the top floors blocking escape from all lower levels. You could see the structure was fine but the walls were blasted off. The bottom 5 levels were sealed off, 6th level was a wreck, and 7th level was the way out.

The disappearance of the small patrol seemed to go unnoticed as the fight was going on and the fight going on was unnoticed by the small patrol. Now the patrol just had to reach the 7th level and they will be able to get back outside. And they don’t even know who or what they’ll come across on their way up.

Henry went out into the other room where the staircase lead and looked around. The space to squeeze through was so small that only Greg would be able to fit and not too well either. Moving the rubble would be nuts. Greg was looking at the space, sizing it up to see if he’d fit, and looking into the bit of the next room he could see between the door and the rubble. Henry was looking at the rubble trying to imagine some way of moving it out of the way.

John dragged the small table in from the other room, took the butt of his rifle and smashed the end of the air vent off and climbed in but the others didn’t notice. Then as Greg was trying to find another way to fit, as he was looking in he saw the air vent break open and John slide out. Greg threw in the flare and squeezed though the hole cause he was already part of the way in, then signaled to Henry to take the vent.

When the three were in they looked around the room. A dead gang member was lying on the floor with a dual-pulse rifle by his side and a hole left in his chest from a tri-pulse rifle, based on his position and the size of the hole on either side, he was hit in the back. Across the room there was another boarded up stair way and another room and a table with small box on it. They opened it up and found a box of crackers, some fruit, and a bag of chips. Happily they ate their prize because they hadn’t eaten since a day or two ago. Under the fruit they found a small mysterious device, the same one they found in the box of fried wires. It seemed like these devices were delivered to each floor of the building and switched on before the bomb went off. But what they did was unknown.

Henry opened the door to the other room after he finished his banana and tossed in onto the table. Inside there were rows of computers all the way to the back of the room with was rubble covering some of the computers. Henry sat down at one and turned it on. It had been hibernating and immediately there was a chart of attacks the gang had planned, and it seemed like the attacking gang who took out the building had pulled it up and made note so they could either prepare or strike them when they’re weak.

Space Rage Killers and Eta Velorum Smugglers were the two rival gangs. SRKs leader was the man John had killed and EVS were the ones who bombed the buildings, outside SRK and EVS were fighting each other as well as smaller gangs and the police force.

Henry noticed another computer that was still on while all the others hibernating or shut down. He went over to it and moved the mouse, and up appeared scans of each room that had been translated from one computer language, shown as a 3d image of each floor, then sent under another computer language to… some place the Henry didn’t have time to track.

A charge went off in the middle of the room and Henry jumped out of the way as all the computers went up in smoke. It must have been some device rigged on the computers that was to go off if anyone used them. It was a bit slow though considering Henry had been on them for a minute or so. Henry concluded it was meant to kill who used them so the info wouldn’t get out bur Henry didn’t sit down at the computer; he was standing over the chair bent over.

Greg ran in rifle up in the air and looked around and saw Henry on the side getting up and tugging his rifle out of the pile of rubble. Henry yanked it out, inspected it, and took a shot at the chair in the corner that wasn’t in the explosion. The chair blew to pieces and Henry informed Greg of what he saw and Greg informed him of the fact that John had shot the door at nearly the same time as the charge, a little earlier even so that’s the initial reason Henry looked up. If John hadn’t of blown the boarded stairway Henry may not have made it out.

Henry headed out and followed John up the stairway. On their way up something dropped onto John from above and knocked him backward into Henry. Greg dodged them as they tumbled down the stairs because he was just rounding the corner and when they hit the wall the figure took John’s rifle, and Henry was knocked out his head against the wall and Greg was the teams medic so he was trying to see if Henry was ok while John took one of the other rifles, probably Greg’s, and ran after the figure.

The figure seemed human but was completely dressed in black, they didn’t see a face when he tackled John but his obviously was fit, being able to match the pace of John, who had done track in his younger years, while wearing that black outfit. It had to be one of the bombers who had been trapped in the building. The figure leaped up into the air vent and John went over to the top of the door where the hole was and chucked a flare in and aimed his rifle at the exit of the vent. As the guy slid john got him in the leg and he fell off the table. John jumped and went through the vent and dropped down on the table, the figure was getting up and about to run again. John tackled him to the ground, both rifle going sliding across the room. John pinned him in a headlock and the figure did something that seemed inhuman; he bent his legs up over John’s shoulders and tore him off his back, then ended by standing on John then body slamming him, and running off like he had never been shot in the leg. John stumbled to his feet, back aching like hell, and took full off full sprint at the figure ramming him through the doorway into the room where the SRK gang leader laid dead, took out his combat knife and stabbed the figure in the side.

John flipped him over onto his back and opened up his suit. On the inside of it, it read EVS Pulse/Fusion absorbent armor with bomb blast protection. John seemed interested in this armor since all his did was keel shrapnel off and lessen damage size of shots, John took off his liquid armor suit and threw on this instead, which was surprisingly lighter. Also the man had an Uzi, a popular old weapon that used bullets nearly 350 years old in design it’s been updated many times to these days when it added a bit of napalm to the bullets, still the same rounds used by the colt 45, the man was also carrying an I.D. which showed his name as one of the higher ranking members of the EVS, another 25 million in bounty, plus they were both conveniently killed side by side.

John caught back up with Greg and Henry, who was just waking up from being knocked out, and John threw Greg his rifle and cleaned the blood off his combat knife with a little bit of water from his canteen. At this point the three of them were worn out, John more so they the others, so they went to sleep.

Greg got up and lit another flare. Henry and John were still asleep from all they went through yesterday, particularly near the end of the day...If it was even day or night. Greg went up the stairs and remembered what happened yesterday, so he mounted the flare on the holding spot on the rifle, lifted the rifle up above him as he walked, the SRK gang leader’s gun in one holster and the special forces issue dual pulse pistol in the other. Combat knife in a discrete slot behind a flap of fabric on his pants leg and a string of 5 grenades on one side of his belt, a string of flash bangs on the other a small pepper pellet gun in a chest holster. Flare bag was built into his jacket; John still had his because he only changed armor.

This time nothing was jumping down on him and as he approached the door he noticed a hole left in the hole by a fusion shot. He looked behind him and saw the burnt patch of wallpaper. He peeked in it and saw few SRK lieutenants were behind a pile of rubble and on the other side were EVS bombers looking around, who most likely didn’t know that the SRK guys were there. As the EVS guys slowly wandered into their trap, rounding the table they got closer and closer to the point that they were on top of the SRK and with that the SRK guys took them down in a few seconds with fusions. One EVS guy yelled out and more came.

Greg took a flash bang and pulled the pin and tossed it in the room through the hole, then ducked as the bang went off, hollered for Henry and John who were already on their way up when they heard it, they were already just getting up. Greg opened the door, and disarmed the SRK guys, and Henry and John disarmed the EVS guys. Then they tied up the gang members while they were still disoriented. Then they did one more final search for knives or blades.

The room looked like a war zone, and it became obvious to the three of them that this floor is covered with gang members. There was a shot up table and various other unrecognizable items strewn across the floor. There was a duffle bag in the corner. John opened it up and found various clothes items, at the bottom of the bag was another one of those devices with the antenna. Henry didn’t seem in the mood to poke around. He knew they were in a bad situation and he wanted to get out as fast as possible. Greg wanted to figure out what’s going on and John wanted to capture or kill as many SRK and EVS gang members as he could.

Greg peered into the other rooms, all of which were small work stations, empty except for a desk, lamp, and damaged computer and then beat up file cabinets, a few seemed to serve as bedrooms with cots set up but it seemed many of the men weren’t in the structure. Level 3 certainly was the most active level they’ve been on. Level 1 being half filled with rubble and the second floor wasn’t too lively. Henry found the stairway and went up, calling John and Greg with him. As they went up they had to stop several times and kill SRK or EVS members on their way up or down.

Then they reached the top, a desk was in the way and EVS members kneeling down behind it. Henry just blew a hole in the desk and killed the two, the two who obviously weren’t prepared to have to hold back quad rifles. As Henry, Greg, and John climbed over the desk and looked around at the room. It had tables set up with weapons strewn across them, fusion machine guns, pulse rifles and pistols, plasma launchers, charge launchers, then a rail gun. The three of them were surprised at the sight of a rail gun. These things are so devastatingly destructive that they could eat through anything and there still expensive to create.

They essentially launch a ring of molten metal through the air and dig through all in its path. Ammunition was a ring of metal and loading was sliding a string into the back then charging up the power so it could send the ring off using an electromagnet which the rings were fitted onto. If someone wanted to dig their way out with a gun this would be the one to use but it seemed it was lacking ammo, only 5 strings of rings were on the table, each string was 10 rings that in diameter were two inches and the ring part was about a centimeter in diameter.

The three figured they were in a EVS controlled area, the plan must not have gone very well because there were a lot of EVS members still in the building, and if they had tried they probably could have successfully raided and taken control of the building, instead of rushing in, planting bombs and signalers and bombing the building, even with just the initial raiders they seem to have gotten a good hold of the situation.

Henry opened the door and looked into what seemed to be the buildings cafeteria, a large hall sat there, tables on their sides in a line and EVS guys lined up behind them. This must be the rest of the raiders, they couldn’t have sent much more in for a bombing operation. In order to completely comprehend the size of these gangs, consider that they own several ships marauding the galaxy, and several thousand members scattered throughout the galaxy, for the SRK the numbers are rumored to be 30,000 members and the EVS is about 35,000 members, and EVS have 2 captains, SRK have 3 captains. These are possibly the most powerful interstellar gangs in the galaxy. Sure there may be bigger gangs on earth but nowhere near the power and sophistication of these two. The top 10 are(best to worse):

AQM (Alpha Quadrant MafÍa),

MS-13 (a gang over 300 years old and getting stronger and stronger),

RBHGF ( Rouge Black Hand Ground Force, they split from the infamous cooperation Black Hand),

EVS (Eta Velorum Smugglers)

AUNR(Anti-United Nations Rebellion)

SRK(Space Rage Killers)

The Crypts (Another 300 year old gang)

The Bloods (300 year old again, extreme rivals with The Crypts)

PAM (Professional Assassin Marauders)

RBMA(Rouge Broken Monkey Anarchists, they broke from the infamous corporation Broken Monkey)

Gangs are basically small scale corporations that are weak compared to the large, powerful corporations. Gangs live on the property of corporations, their colonies, and can get mowed down in space if one of their captains is unlucky enough to meet a corporation’s captain in space. The captains for corporations are professionals at what they do.

Henry pulled a flash bang from his belt, and snuck into the cafeteria, and ducked behind 2 trashcans near the door, and got a full view of everything. He straightened himself up a bit so he was peering over the cans, and could see the guards at the wall to tables. Ahead of them was the other exit, the side with the stair way, and SRK members crouched behind the walls. Walking around were a few members, so Henry took at them out with a few well placed shots from his rifle, leaning against the wall behind the trashcans. This caught the guard’s attention, and 5 of them came walking back. Henry pulled the pin on the flash bang, and tossed it at them, hid his eyes and covered his ears. He looked up and he saw those guys on the floor and others coming. Henry grabbed and pulled the pins of 2 grenades, tossed one to the left and the other to the right, and huddled near the cans. Some of the men dropped dead but he obviously couldn’t handle all these guys, they just noticed where he was, and the shrapnel embedded cans suddenly exploded in front of Henry, who got up and dived out of the room. As he glanced around the wall and saw most of the guys he shot getting back up.

John ran over and Henry noticed that under his jacket he had the same armor as the EVS, not the Special Forces armor. Henry asked him about it and John told him it, and Henry then started aiming for head shots from then on.

Greg ran up and signaled them to go into the bathroom in the corner, by the wall. The other two followed, interested in what Greg had planned considering they were about to be overrun by the EVS. When they went in Greg closed the door, flicked on his shoulder mounted light, scanned the floor for a second and picked something up and told the other 2 to be quiet. Then as they waited they heard a voice outside the door and the knob had just barely moved, when Greg fired sending a ring of molten metal through the door and seven EVS guys. Greg had grabbed the rail gun and slid it into the bathroom along with several other guns.

Greg then shot a hole in the wall with the rail gun, leaving a scorched up hole which he kicked in, the wall was an interior wall into the cafeteria, not a strong exterior wall. The three ran into the cafeteria, only 2 EVS guys were in there and they were easily taken care of by the pulse rifles. The three ran up to the wall on the other side, John chucked a flash bang in, after the bang they ran though the piles of stunned SRK members and up the stairs.
