Ok guys, this is like the history channel of decisive battles. Entries must follow the following format. I'd like to see a few entries to see if it's worthwhile to document our greatest battles. No more than 1000 words (about 3 pages) please.

Server
approximated time (optional)
forces involved (At every mention of an allied pilot, italicize the name, and bold every axis pilot to prevent confusion) -
Allies-

Axis-

What you'd like to call the battle

Prelude to battle-

The events during the battles that were fought-

Key strategies used-

The long term result of the battle-

Commendations-

P2
Mid summer 2008
Universal Industries and various defending allies, basically a segment of the P2 Alliance

Aztec and rouge members and peeps from other servers

The Northern Raid

A corp called Aztec empire formed and various newer people to the server appeared, such as generalneox and others.

Then invasions against Universal Industries started, consisting of neox and a few unknown people. initially it was 3 against 2, Beer and Godzilla2oo7 responded to the invasions and began to try to get rid of them. through the chat i responded and helped them out, having a nuke supply up there that was fairly well sealed off. initially the fight was between 3 northernmost systems in the north east cluster, a UI core system, a fairly empty system with a port, and another UI system that had been partially invaded. Aztec began to grow recruiting more people from other servers, and for now it was the three of us, not doing that bad actually, considering that they seemed fairly newbish. the systems became heavily lasered, and we eventually mined the port so that they had to use another one. we clearly had a better nuke supply then them. at this point people began coming to be part of the action. Liz and fear as well as other people came to support UI and then anito and meliza, anito because of his standing against UI and meliza because at that time she was an enemy of Civil Air Patrol, mainly me. the fight began to spread lower in the cluster, then the attack of when it came to the point where the allies began to just shove aztec where we wanted, after we killed several of them and liz, fear, bunny and i were chasing a couple of them through the cluster, where they evenually took a black hole out of the area.

the main strategy that was used was to hold the ports and mining anything that was important, then baiting them into small fights to just re enforce ourselves and send them to sol, such as when i was mining a port in the cluster, and anito and meliza showed up, well right after liz fear and bunny came in. as long as we had the ports, they either ran thought the mines or moved to another area. they tried to laser a section and hold it, but then they realized they needed sheilds and we had them, they had to move.

the attackers either quit, or just became freindly and stopped attacks, its escalation into a war was stopped by such an obvious defeat over an unorganized enemy, we had a clear goal, hold the cluster and get rid of the raiders, they were just attackin who ever and initially invaded UI but gave up on that and tried to fight is off.

Cool stuff. Yeah, I think this will work. Smile

Server- Classic Homeworlds
Approximated time- After the Fall of Podsquad before the Angels/Hive wars

Forces Involved
-
Allies- Black September (Independent BM ally. Only Zacko still plays), White September (Sub), Grey September (Sub), Smeagol
Axis- Broken Monkey Hive (666 turncoats), The Republic (666 enforcers), Iron.Man (Unaf), Chaos15’s Corp

666’s Last Gasp

Prelude to battle-Black September, a known ally and supporter of BM is targeted by a 666 revenge coalition, because of news that Black September is crippled with inactivity (Only Zacko still plays). BM Hive shoots down Zacko and declares war. Republic joins with Hive. Iron.Man, a friend of BM Overlords joins the battle because of a previous claim to BS planets.

White September and Grey September, two subcorps created from noobs in all the areas Black September claimed have not yet been tested in battle. Some of them received basic nuke dodging and invasion training.

The Battle
- Eager to fight, Grey September launches an attack on the axis foothold in their arm without Black September knowledge. The axis quickly responds with a large force. Soon, Black and White September are rallied.

Initially, the allies lose control over their system, and the axis begins an invasion with lasers and mines in place. Zacko lands on their target and defends for a few hours until not a laser remains, at which point he escapes.

The planet is lost eventually, and Zacko orders his untested subcorps to rally a few systems west, setting up a laser and minefield, while taunting the axis pilots. The axis launches an attack, nearly destroying/replacing all lasers and killing many allied pilots, during a grueling 3 hour-long battle, until fathertime and his seth are shot down. The allies eventually replace the lasers, and the battle drags on until the Axis supplies are exhausted.

Key reasons/strategies that led to victory
- Flackboxing (Defensive planetary maneuver), mine paths and bottom-system laser walls (Makes journey down arm tedious and dangerous for retreating pods). Psychological Warfare (Enemy taunted to provoke attack), Logistical Warfare (all 600 enemy nukes drained)

The long term result of the battle
- Grey September becomes confident and establishes ties with Chaos, who leaves the 666 movement to become neutral as a result. Despite inactivity, Black September never threatened in their arm again. Galvanizes Black September to join with Angels in the Hive wars. The 10 hour-long defeat drains the axis’ will to fight. Most of BM Hive banned.

Commendations
-
Fathertime (Banned) and Iron.Man display well timed distraction on an 8 shot solar which they barely let hit them on a really hard layout.
Deathreape98, leader of White September, for whom this was his first battle, scores 2 enemy kills.
Smeagol, guarding warp was responsible for the initial kills which led to the swing in the battle.
